A customs inspector in a remote, woodsy part of Sweden, she has an X-Men–esque ability to smell people’s intentions—a gift Ali Abbasi's film opens with a lightly sketched portrait of what makes Tina (Eva Melander) normal. “Lovers on Borders” is the first-ever co-production among Japan, Portugal and USA, and its 132-minute version has already screened in Portugal, Japan and Sao Paulo Film Festival in 2018.
